Borrowing Materials

We extend direct borrowing privileges to Carlisle Barracks military and civilian personnel. Others should contact their local library to arrange interlibrary loans.

Circulating books and books on CDs have a loan period of 60 days; DVDs loan for 7 days. Reference books and all periodicals are in-library use only. The Library may recall any item on loan for mission use.

Self-service check-out systems are available during non-staffed hours; directions are posted at the desk.

Materials not found at USAWC/USAHEC may be available via Inter-Library Loan. Complete an ILL Request to submit a request. You may also submit requests via email or in person. You will be notified via email when the item arrives.

Lost library items must be reported and restitution will be made in accordance with Library and Army policy.

Technology Services

NIPR computers are available for use by customers with valid Carlisle Barracks network accounts. These computers reach content on the Carlisle Barracks network and portal. Use of USB thumb drives is not permitted on network computers.

We also provide computers with commercial Internet service. These terminals are not on the CBKS network and reach international domains. USB drives are permitted on these machines only.

All computers have printing capability, have CAC readers, and are loaded with Microsoft Office 2013. All computers can access library databases, online catalog, OWA Mail, and Blackboard.

Users who bring personal devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones may connect to the library's free wireless.

Copier & Scanner

Use of photocopiers and scanners are restricted to USAWC faculty, students, and staff for mission-related copying. A fee-for-service reproduction capability is located in our Ridgway Hall facility. For more information, please see this page.

We strive to maintain the computers and printers, but occasionally equipment and systems malfunction. When this occurs, please notify personnel at the Service Desk. Only Service Desk personnel are authorized to load or modify software on the computers.

Breakout Areas

There are breakout areas for group study, collaboration, and meetings. A large presentation area equipped with an overhead projector, big screen, and instructor computer workstation is set up for librarians’ instructional sessions and may also be reserved by students, staff, and faculty for meetings and group coursework.
