The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is responsible for the "U.S. Overseas Loans and Grants" report to Congress. The annual publication (also known as the Greenbook) summarizes United States Government (USG) foreign assistance data, economic and military, from 1945 to the present on a country by country basis. The Greenbook is produced to fulfill a Congressionally-mandated requirement. The legislative authority for the report is the Foreign Assistance Act (FAA) of 1961 (P.L. 87-105), Section 634. The Greenbook print publication contains summary data of USG foreign assistance since 1945.

USAID is the lead U.S. Government agency that works to end extreme global poverty and enable resilient, democratic societies to realize their potential.

The World Bank Annual Report is prepared by the Executive Directors of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA) in accordance with the by-laws of the two institutions. The President of the IBRD and IDA and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors submits the report, along with the accompanying administrative budgets and audited financial statements, to the Board of Governors.

The present publication relies on a database developed by the OECD Directorate for Financial and Enterprise Affairs for comprehensive statistics on foreign direct investment. The database is sourced by official FDI statistics of thirty-four OECD members published by Central Banks and/or National Statistical Offices. The statistics cover FDI transactions (financial and income flows) and positions (stocks). Data are broken down by bilateral partner countries (worldwide) and by economic activity. All the statistics in this publication are presented in United States dollars to facilitate cross-country comparison.

One of their projects is The Fragile States Index, an annual ranking of 178 countries across 12 indicators of the risks and vulnerabilities faced by individual nations.

The Global Poverty Mapping Project seeks to enhance current understanding of the global distribution of poverty and the geographic and biophysical conditions of where the poor live. Additionally, the project aims to assist policy makers, development agencies, and the poor themselves in designing interventions to reduce poverty.

UNCTAD is a permanent intergovernmental body established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1964. Part of the UN Secretariat, UNCTAD reports to the UN General Assembly and the Economic and Social Council but has its own membership, leadership, and budget. It is also part of the United Nations Development Group.

The mission of the Human Development Report Office (HDRO) is to advance human development. The goal is to contribute towards the expansion of opportunities, choice and freedom. The office works towards this goal by promoting innovative new ideas, advocating practical policy changes, and constructively challenging policies and approaches that constrain human development. The office works with others to achieve change through writing and research, data analysis and presentation, support to national and regional analysis and outreach and advocacy work.

The World Bank eAtlas of Global Development maps and graphs more than 175 thematically organized indicators for over 200 countries, letting you visualize and compare progress on the most important development challenges facing our world. Most indicators cover several decades, so you can see, for example, how life expectancy at birth has improved from 1960 up through the latest year.

PovcalNet is an interactive computational tool that allows you to replicate the calculations made by the World Bank's researchers in estimating the extent of absolute poverty in the world. PovcalNet also allows you to calculate the poverty measures under different assumptions and to assemble the estimates using alternative country groupings or for any set of individual countries of the user’s choosing.
